Spring
Spring has sprung! the trees are popping leaves and the weather is warming up. Students are coming with shorts and no coats. Just a gentle reminder that shorts must be longer than your students’ finger tips when they hang down at their sides, and tank tops need to have a two finger width on the straps.
As we near the end of the year, there are going to be some fun activities and due to the lack of a playground, some activities that the sixth grade has done in the past, but cannot this year. There will be no sixth grade vs. the staff softball game this year. So sorry, but we will set off the hot air balloons and shoot trebuchet eggs casings on the playground. We will be visiting the EMP on June 19 (that is the last full week of school). If you would like to join us, we will be needing chaperones.
On the academic level, the students are studying the life unit in science, Greece in social studies, are currently in literature circles reading different books, and are writing a fiction story in writing.
This week Lauren, my student teacher, is taking the class over. She greet the students in the morning and teaches science, reading, and math. Next week she will be taking over parts of writing and social studies. The students seem to like and respect her. She will be with us until June 9. We will slowly transition back to me teaching full time a couple weeks before then.
Have a great end to your week.
